Dear Son, each day you wake up, you’ll have choices to make. First and foremost, plan to have a great day. You can train your mind for positive outlooks. I have.

And yes, you can plan for this, simply by refusing to allow yourself to wallow in self-pity. My trick? Whenever I think my situation is “bad”, I can easily think of millions who are starving, infected, lonely, unsafe, homeless…

If you have warm food, a clean shirt and clean drinking water, you have it better than more than half the world.
