Dear Son, wait until you can instantaneously articulate what inspires you

Can we instantaneously articulate what inspires us? Movies can inspire us, like the one last night, Safe Haven, the catalyst for today’s post.

Starting a business, publishing a book, representing the United States at the Senior Olympics, becoming a Father, celebrating three-plus decades as a husband, revolving everything around Jesus, annually donating and recycling things once thought to be important…

These things have made jungle jeff an exponentially better Cast Member.

And remarkably…

Being a Cast Member has exponentially made jungle jeff better at all those things.

It has been nearly eight months and 1,100 posts since the word me has been used.

Permission to become exceptionally self aware (not perfect, simply aware) is THE most under rated gift you can give yourself.

Live like you mean it. Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Is attitude everything?

What is striking in this guy’s story, is how palpable his passion is for the ocean.

Are you still insanely passionate about something in your life?

What are you passionate about?

When was the last time it turned you on?

Your passion becomes your art to the world.

Share it generously.

The anniversary of the most magnificent day in our life

How did we spend yesterday?

How often do we take inventory of the day before?

Yesterday, the 55th anniversary of that first breath… spent the day doing the normal things.

Simple things.

Routine things.

Joy-filled things.

Life-giving things.

Since (becoming a dad in) 2000 (age 41), just cannot fathom the idea of having to wait for a holiday, anniversary, milestone, etc to celebrate a single day.

Among other things, finished watching the two-hour Apple 2014 WWDC video.

The first three minutes are not available yet on You Tube, hence the 2013 version above.

Live like you mean it.

Today.

Or we could wait until tomorrow.

Your move.

What if we wished there were more of them in our life?

Crazy, nut-job misfits… wish there were more of them in our life?

The 2014 Winter Olympic video below is worth an encore. Only two minutes.

We get so busy on the treadmill of life. We poison our souls so slowly we never notice.

(it’s almost sickening to watch dreams waste away)

So here’s the question worth asking.

Are we satisfied with our trajectory?

Whatever it is that we dreamt about, does it still give us a tinge of excitement?

Or have we kissed it goodbye forever?

Either way, those really important younger people in our lives are watching us (non-Olympians that we are).

And we are telling them in advance how ‘The Herd’s’ story ends.

It always ends the same way…. “No, I had always wanted to, and really wished I had done _______. But I didn’t.”

But those crazy, lunatic misfits – the freaks who bucked tradition… they’re the ones we wished we had followed.

Take it from one who knows. There’s still hope for us.

A year from now we’ll wish we had started today.

This is stuff that cannot be made up.

It’s simply the cold hard, amazing truth.

Be well and remain amazed.

Pretty sure you know how to access the video…
