Our attitude shapes our work habits

Satisfied?

Is your culture worth defending?

Do others see you as a warning or an example?

Do you have a systematic way to uncover your blind spots?

Is profit the goal or the reward?

What are the four basics for world-class leadership?

Are the four basics something you’ve honed and live by, or are you embracing some theory from a leadership guru?

What’s missing is an attitude of defiance

Disney Conference Speakers
i launched my small entrepreneurial business while finishing the final six years of a 30 year Disney career. “Don’t quit your day job” was a great strategy.

The more i talk with people who have big dreams of breaking away from the corporate path, the clearer this reality becomes.

Self-help gurus, and how-to gurus literally prey on these people.

How do i know?

Ask anyone who’s worked diligently to follow the guru’s recipe and put all the “must haves” in place, “How’s your business going?”

Few will proclaim, “Amazing. Beyond my wildest dreams.”

The missing piece, as i see it, is an attitude of defiance.

Defying conventional wisdom and .thinking .differently

The harsh reality is you have to differentiate yourself from a sea of “pick-me’s” in order to secure your (remarkable) place in the market.

It’s in the fine print of all the guru messages…”This won’t work for most people. Proceed at your own risk.”

This paralyzes many people

Safety deposit box
Our branch is closing and we need to move somewhere else.

Safety deposit box
In 10 years, we accessed our safety deposit box nine times.

One simple decision, where will we move our safety deposit box to, has taken an unusually large amount of time.

Why?

Because change often invites opportunity. Is a new bank, closer to home, a better option than our current path?

Contemplating leaving a long-term (banking) relationship is scary. It could also be a game changer.

How much time should we spend deciding what to spend time on?

Not carving out time to figure this out is the easiest excuse for avoiding our fear.

Because if we carved out time, we’d have to face or fear.

Facing fear is the only way to overcome it.

Blinding flash of the obvious.

Go.

Too tired to think?

Nope.

On the contrary, thinking has been on over-drive.

The fascination with fascination

Orlando based inspirational speakers
Waiting at LAX with our Son. He is the reason i began writing.

The fascination with fascination. Just over seven years ago, i began thinking about what would my life be like if i lived like i were dying?

To challenge the status quo – because it’s just a habit i cannot break – rather than think in terms of “only six months to live”, i landed on the idea of “what if you had 10 years left?”

Come June 8, there will be exactly three years left of that decade-long opportunity.

All i can think about is this:

What if i hadn’t begun this commitment? Where would the past seven years have taken me?
