Why do we love big, positive news?

New Fiction book rack at bookstore
The world is over loaded with new books

Signed the contract, and paid in advance, for the first book to be published by Christmas.

Also overcame the fear of sending a digital copy of the book to a copy editor.

These things always seemed easy from a distance.

Joy In Your Spirit

Joy Is A Choice

Joy is a choice I get to make every moment of every day.  Same with you, even if it doesn’t seem so.

Did I mention that I have a pile of emotional baggage as big as many of you?

Did I mention that my wife and I are disabled?

Did I mention we spent our life savings to become parents?

Did I mention our son has an incurable disease?

Did I mention that I’ve overcome addiction?

The list goes on and on. So please, please don’t say, “But you’ve got it made.  You are living the dream.  You are so fortunate.”

This would generally be considered an insult, and completely disrespectful.  And maybe the beginning of an excuse.

But forgiveness rushes in and all that’s left is joy.  Almost unspeakable joy.

Mid Life Crisis Is When...

Mid Life Crisis?

Mid Life Crisis?  Mid Life Celebration?

Two choices.  Maybe there are more, but it only seems like two that are obvious.

So if you had a choice, which would you pick?

No brainer, eh?

Yep, no brainer.  Then why are so many unhappy?

Because life is hard.  Sometimes, it even feels impossible.

Balance (yeah right)

Take Your Time, But Hurry Up

“You no longer spend your life hurrying around the corner for something which is never there”.Rex Harrison

If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a thousand times.  There is no guarantee in life, except that we will die.

There seems to be a delicate balance between hurrying and not hurrying. We shouldn’t rush blindly through life, bypassing life’s simple pleasures.

But then again, we can’t spend too much time doing what pleases us, because in the end, there really is much work to be done.  Our: mind, body, spirit, money, community, job, sleep, errands, chores, etc.

If we take our cue from nature, animals are constantly trying to survive. There is always the threat of danger lurking somewhere.  In nature the saying goes, “Survival of the fittest”. I’m not talking physically, I’m talking comprehensively.

Ya with me, comprehensively.  This means your day will be really busy. Or not.
