New year only at Disney Institute

Disney institute social media post
Bold image. Alluring. Important topic.

A few years before leaving Disney Institute (DI) and retiring from Walt Disney World in 2014, DI stopped offering Disney’s Approach to Creativity and Innovation.

Well lookie here (the photo above).

Nice to see DAMCI (Disney’s Approach to Managing Creativity and Innovation) attempting a comeback. Hope it works this second time around.

We stopped offering it because demand didn’t justify running it.

But now, second week in January (2025), a revival.

PS. Simultaneously while removing DAMCI from our offerings, we did the same thing (for the same ‘low customer interest’ reason) with Disney’s Approach to Brand Loyalty (DACL). DACL stands for Disney’s Approach to Customer Loyalty.

Same as yesterday

Mountains and a lake
Same photo angle as yesterday. Yesterday was portrait mode. This photo is landscape mode.

You may have noticed i’m taking a break from most posts being in the “quote” category.

Why?

Not sure.

In the same way the “quote category” had an almost 2-year run, perhaps it’s time to take a break. Maybe that’s why?

We shall see.

i get energy from doing things for the first time.

Kids thrive on this too.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow

What keeps you motivated into your 14 consecutive year, writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts?

Mentally, there are two ever-refreshing models: (1) a 72-hour window and (2) a camera roll.

(1) Each day reflects on a present 72-hour window…

  1. What i learned yesterday
  2. What i get to do today
  3. What i hope for tomorrow

(2) The Camera roll:

  • Photos & videos from yesterday
  • Photos in folders related to whatever topic today inspires
  • Or random scroll through 170k photos & videos

Some days all five posts unpack a single event or topic.

Other days each post is different and unrelated to an event or topic.

These two methods got randomly revealed after finishing the original 100-day self-imposed writer’s bootcamp.

Note: There was never any desire nor intention to write past the 100-day goal. Additionally, never thought the 100-day goal was achievable. But in true jeff-land dreaming, knew there was only one way to live with no regret – go for the impossible goal.

The beauty of mental creativity

small town historical welcome sign
Are we born with creativity or do we develop it? Both. Note, born and raised here. What a creative origin story, right?

The beauty of mental creativity is no rules are required.

Two things must happen…

  1. You must accept (your) enlightenment to this fact.
  2. You must act.

You must (you get to) create rules that don’t exist – rules that transform your thinking in unencumbered and dramatic ways.
