Growth mindset

Walking to gym yesterday. So easy to overlook on the brick wall. A tiny cocoon. Growth mindset is easy to overlook too.
Because i was delayed in returning home, texted a quick photo pictured here to let our son know where i was and why.

Can you explain the growth mindset to anyone?

Do you know how to apply it to your daily life?

Wonderful hour-long conversation with family member yesterday while walking back from the gym, which extended to a tranquil spot on our homeowner’s dock.

Pause and reflect…

That which is most important is hidden because of its simplicity and familiarity.

As my son and i discussed a situation the family member is having now, we can clearly see the best way for two anxious people to move forward – discuss things adult to adult, with an open mind, filled with curiosity, patience, and optimism.

In the phone call i had with the family member there is literally nothing but dread, anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. Apparently with both parties.

My son and i marvel at the paradox and quietly wonder as this is typed if there are personal blind spots that others can easily see.

Also can’t help but wonder if anyone would be kind enough to point them out and help me see them.

Change what you see and…

Perfect imperfection. Reminds me of my own perfect imperfections.

Change what you see and…

What you see changes.

Case in point…

If anything can go well, it will.

How much for freedom?

Yesterday’s GapingVoid email cartoon message.

How much for freedom?

Freedom?

Yes, freedom.

Freedom from a work grind with no end in sight?

How much would you pay to have your freedom from this?

Well, a new decade begins in four days.

Did you pre-order resolutions?

Stop and smell the roses, or, watch the sunset. Last night on the second story roof. Without pausing a busy life, resolutions, their power, and a plan to commit, are ignored.

Did you pre-order resolutions?

What?

Your New Years resolutions, did you order them in advance?

i think it must be my Disney upbringing.

What?

How i laugh at the old me and how i approached New Years resolutions for the first 45 years of my life.

The transformational power of Disney’s world-class, time-tested business approach has created a personal culture that is by design, not by default.

i have learned to be intentional where i use to be unintentional, or oblivious.

Reading between the lines: if you wait until December to decide on your New Years resolution, you’ve waited too long – waiting too long means you’re not committed.
