Final 24 hours in Australia, mind

Ocean dawn
Sunrise hasn’t begun yet, but surfing has.
48-second video: After three weeks, it’s tempting to see this as ordinary. Why? Because we never have to work for the vantage point. Pre-sunrise activity is bustling.
36-second video: Typical low-level cloud horizon.
27-second video: Once the Sun scales the clouds, the light is blinding.

Reflecting on the past three weeks and the next 24 hours, this is a dominating mental thought….

Kindness is a strength.

To be a strong thinker is to be a kind thinker.

Never gets old

greeting card
Yep, we made a few visits to say thank you.

The things we take for granted, and rarely or never do, are the very things that surprise and delight others.

Mentally return

Disney’s toy figurines at National Park Lodge
Can’t help but marvel at the motivation to transport across the Countey so many Disney toy figurines.
Two cats on floor
Our host rescued these two sister kittens after discovering their tiny white bodies in the grass while mowing their Grandmother’s yard. It’s a miracle they were spotted and saved from a gruesome ending.

High hopes, low expectations.

Excellent standards, decent generosity.

Take your time, don’t wait.

Enjoy the journey.

Savor the return.

Returning from a road trip requires a mental transition back to familiar.

Drivers love you dude

Uber message screen shot
This is a wow-moment.

This Uber message is a surprise.

Why?

Didn’t know they measured it.

Didn’t know drivers rated me.

Somewhere in my 30’s i learned a valuable lesson – customer service is a two-way street.

Be the kind of customer every business says behind your back, “We wish every customer was like Jeff.”

Thankful thinking

red bird on a wire
On today’s walk, this Cardinal sang and we communed. Cardinals are skittish. Being able to stand directly below it on an open wire, stunning.

Thankful thinking.

Resisted this morning’s temptation to make a lengthy phone call. Walking is a favorite time for 30-60 minute catch up calls with family, friends, clients.

Why resist the phone?

To be free.

To be free to think without an agenda.

The Cardinal and the Mockingbird serenaded our small, insignificant space.

It wasn’t hypnotic.

But it was close.
