Positivity for Sale

Florida swimming pool
Couple nights ago. This is sunset, but if you didn’t know, it could be a sunrise.

Today’s theme is about stuff that’s for sale, stuff that people might buy.

Saw a “Disney Institute” Google alert yesterday entitled “Magic For Sale”…how Disney was selling it’s people management best practices to outsiders back in the mid-2000’s.

Take a person with a super positive attitude. If they could bottle their “secrets”, would you buy them?

My advice?

Grow your own.

We reap what we sow.

Sow good thoughts.

Leverage the power of words and phrases.

Opportunities and challenges, not problems.

“Good morning, God.”

Not, “Good God it’s morning”.

Go the extra inch

go the extra inch
Yesterday at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Go the extra inch.

So easy.

So simple.

A fraction of the effort compared to the extra mile.

Any effort that surprises and delights creates the “wow-factor”.

Creating unexpected and delightful surprises can and should become a habit.

Just like not going the extra mile all the time becomes a habit.

Going the extra mile is a flawed concept.

Did a TEDx Talk about it.

There’s a time and a place for the extra mile, but it’s the exception not the rule.

We insidiously let what we can’t do (the extra mile) stop us from what we can do (the extra inch).

Th other insight is that we cheat ourselves out of so much joy, meaning, and purpose because most of us never use the extra inch for our own personal transformation – moving from survival mode to thriving mode.

Why?

Because we let what we can’t do (extra mile) stop us from what we can do (extra inch).

Omar Khalil TEDx AUK
Omar Khalil, a senior AUK computer science professor won my heart because of his youth, vision, and seemingly fearless demeanor.

Front row event seating rarely has a downside.

When then, does it have a downside?

When you are a speaker.

Particularly the kind of speaker that likes to prepare in the very back, out of sight.

This opportunity is overwhelming as i reacclimate to Orlando and home.

Son, remember, i’m 60 and the success and opportunities that i attract are the result of decades of professional endeavors and endurance.

Remember, the long way is the short cut.

How glorious can a day be?

Marina Hotel Kuwait
Marina Hotel room view.

How glorious can a day be?

As glorious as you decide.

Only you control what gets decided, no matter what happens.

Is it easy?

Sometimes.

Sometimes not.

And sometimes it’s a little of both.

But it’s always your decidsion.
