i don’t know what i think

Notes from an early conversation with Jody Maberry.

What does writing do for you?

i don’t know what i think until i write it down.

It’s never a bad thing to know what you think.

Self-reflection 101.

Never get bored with the basics.

Could blogging end in a month?

Could blogging end in a month?

The idea has been swimming around for about a year.

In less than 30 days i complete year 11 (eleven) of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts, never missing a single day.

Remarkable.

But why?

It began as a 100-day self-imposed writer’s bootcamp so i could practice writing in order to write and publish my first book.

Miraculously reaching the 100-day goal, i decided to continue daily writing because of the way it helped me think clearly and differently.

One surprising milestone after another and here we are at the cusp of starting a 12th year.

Where to find art

Every time i pass here at least one photo is taken here.

Where there is passion there is art.

What will you write about today?

Yesterday’s sunrise walk to the gym.

Every morning it’s the same.

What will you write about today?

Ten and two-thirds years since first writing those five differently-themed blog posts on April Fools Day 2009, it’s fascinating how each day continues to offer something to write about.

Can you imagine? Never taking a day off. No, it’s unimaginable. And yet it’s true.

There’s no easy answer.

Perhaps, there’s no answer at all.

How does the Sun unfailingly return each morning?

It just happens.

Writing, i suppose, is like that too.

Approach and avoidance messages

Look for the chipped paint or look for the smiley face? Photo: Hotel parking garage next to Goucher College.

Read yesterday’s message in the next paragraph…

You will never reach your potential, and discover your purpose, by staying in your comfort zone.

Now, read today’s version, rewritten with an approach mindset rather than an avoidance mindset (above)…

You will always reach your potential, and discover your purpose, by getting out of your comfort zone.

Feel the difference?

In the last few weeks, it’s been nagging me that my traditional approach leads with avoidance. Casually, yet with decent intentionality, i’ve been playing around with moving to an approach mindset. My clock is ticking (so is everyone’s) and i’d like to transform in a way i never have.
