Life would be easier if i didn’t write every morning

Life would be easier if i didn’t write for two hours every morning.

i think about the effort and commitment that happens every day, without fail.

These thoughts are especially strong when there’s more on my plate than is comfortable.

Take right now for example.

It would be so easy to not write (for two hours).

So easy.

Literally a no-brainer.

But i write instead.

It was a few decades ago

Since i’m probably staying inside today during the solar eclipse, this is a great clip to reminisce (from the 1980’s) on about paying attention to detail.

The audience has literally zero appreciation for the fact it takes 24 hand-drawn frames of animation for one second of viewing time on the screen.

You’ll notice it now because i’m pointing it out.

Watch the light on Roger Rabbit change as the lamp swings.

If 99.9% of viewers will never notice, why do it?

How can you apply your answer to your own work?

Overwhelmed in good and not so good ways

Overwhelmed in good and not so good ways.

Such is life.

Let’s make an assumption that we are not taking drugs (prescription or otherwise, and please remember alcohol is a drug, as is food, etc)

Does life have to constantly feel overwhelming?

No.

Do you know what the goal is?

It’s to minimize overwhelm, not eliminate it.

Is it impossible to eliminate overwhelm?

At 58, i haven’t lived long enough to discover what’s possible.

Do you think i’m trying to do the impossible?
