Disney Institute Leadership Keynote Speakers

Disney Innovation Keynote Speakers
Two weeks ago in Chile.

There are four world-class basics that make up the Disney Leadership architecture.

i have been teaching our Son (now 18) these Disney blueprints for at least a dozen years.

We are both more positive human beings because of this student-teacher-student relationship.

Everything i learned, did, and taught from 32 years as an insider and two-time Walt Disney Lifetime Achievement recipient has been synthesized into brilliantly simplistic DNA.

No one i know has deconstructed Disney’s operational DNA and reconstructed it in such a useful way.

It brings great joy and personal satisfaction to offer such a unique professional development opportunity to the world.

Another option are Disney Institute Keynote Speakers who are my friends and former colleagues and they share corporately-approved speeches, and i highly recommend them to help organizations in need.

We enjoy bringing The Disney Way to willing audiences.

But there is one more thing

Apple live event 2018
Tim had big shoes to fill. Still does.

But there is one more thing.

Show, don’t tell.

Use story to “show” what you are telling.

Facts and theories stick better when revealed through story.

i can tell you our son is a risk taker, or i can share with you, one more thing…

Writing this morning from Towson, Maryland in a Sheraton Hotel room adjacent to Goucher College. The reality of “nothing is guaranteed” was hyper-real yesterday as we attended the admissions info session and walked through campus on the student-led tour, for the fourth time in two years.

High School seniors across the United States are well-advised to apply to four to six colleges. At the very least, if you are deadset on one college, have a suitable second-choice as a backup.

Makes perfect sense.

Except…

Chapin has no backup.

He is applying for only one school, Goucher.

As parents, we are not insisting, as we probably should, that he have a backup plan, “just in case”.

A common inspirational saying for being fully committed is “burn the ships“, attributed to the 16th-century Spanish explorer, Hernan Cortes.

He may not get accepted into Goucher.

He may be faced with an opportunity in his future that will require him to be all in.

No matter what, the lesson he learns from his current approach will serve him well.

But only because he is all in now.

No theory.

No what-if.

Only all in.

Here’s to the crazy ones.

Should we prepare for battle?

Glacier National Park
How do we lead ourselves and others over tough terrain?

Should we prepare for battle?

What battle?

The battle to win the hearts of your employees.

Your mission is extraordinary for your customers.

In your recent town hall, you observed frontline employees actively disengaged and even some eye-rolling as the leadership team spoke.

Now here’s the question that everyone wants to ace, but you might feel like you are falling short.

“Do your leaders deliver your customer mission to your employees?”

The degree to which a leader demonstrates genuine care is the degree to which those employees pass that genuine care onto their customers.

Write it down. Publish it even.

What attitude do you want to live with?

Why do you want live with that attitude?

What are you prepared to do to live like that?

It’s easy to make decisions

Disney Keynote Speaker
Last week.

It’s easy to make decisions when you know what your values are.  – Roy Disney

You don’t need more time, you just need to decide.

Easy to say.

Hard to embrace.

Why?

Deciding is difficult because decisions come with responsibility. It’s better and easier to not decide, our lizard brain says.

Responsibility can make us look like a hero if we handle it well (like physical health).

Responsibility can make us look like a hypocrite if we handle it poorly (again, like physical health).

So, oftentimes, it’s easier and better to not decide.

How to not decide?

Ask for more time.

If you have more time, you can move away from the decision.

Maybe someone else will make it for you.

Maybe it won’t need to be made at all.

Yeah, like what are the odds of our health becoming nothing to defend.
