What is your role?

Bright morning.
Looking back at Lake McDonald Lodge.
Heading to Fish Lake (lower left).
Sturdy. Simple. dry.
Looking left while crossing bridge.
Looking back from where we crossed.
Bears are always a threat, particularly when surprised.
Fish Lake. Serene.
Quite the unexpected higher altitude ecosystem.

What is your role?

Think of yourself as the trainee.

Think of me as the trainer.

Think of working for me like working for a bigger organization.

Everything you learn has a higher purpose, high company expectations, and a tangible goal of delivering something remarkable to the people your company serves.

This is a great opportunity to use attitude to shape up all your get to do’s with your have to do’s.

A mentally special day on the calendar

Polebridge, in Northwest Glacier National Park.

A mentally special day on the calendar.

Yesterday was inspiring.

The morning hike to Avalanche Lake and the afternoon drive to Polebridge provided two firsts:

First time in 46 years at Glacier to visit the infamous Polebridge.

Son, you got to experience a lesson (being assertively friendly) on the trail that will transfer nicely to college freshman year in two months.

Note: Initiating a salutation is different than responding to one. An example of scaling the extra inch, all day, every day.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about mental attitude:

Bear Grass.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about mental attitude:

  1. Unquestionably, optimism beats pessimism
  2. How you see things is in your control
  3. Use patience to train yourself to see only positively

Your vision is a gift

Yesterday’s arrival, June 9, 2019.

Your vision is a gift.

What have you experienced?

What do you see?

What do you hope for?

What do you want?

These questions provide the opportunity for a life gift…

Your vision for the future.

A future that’s not only better than now, but much better than now.

The only constant is change

Yesterday, 20 minutes before Ubering to the airport, Delta tells us weather has made it impossible to get to Glacier National Park. Air, car, and hotel all had to be rescheduled. Was it possible?

The only constant is change.

We know this.

But.

Do we plan for it?

And.

Do we strengthen our personal systems and processes to allow for rapid, mostly pain-free, and creative solutions to unexpected challenges?

Son, you have the opportunity to learn, develop, and hone personal systems and processes you control – decades earlier than me.
