Commence with the new life

Commence with the new life.

Wait, what?

Scary to think about on Halloween 2019, right?

Exciting to think about on New Years Eve 2019, right?

Scary and exciting are life-long companions.

When i retired on Halloween, it was super scary because i wasn’t retiring from work, just from the corporate world.

When i quit drinking on New Years Eve (not January 1st), it was exciting because i knew i could not fail on this, the third serious attempt to stop.

Told you that to ask you this, “Is your big goal for 2020 enough to remarkably scare and wonderfully excite you?”

So much travel

Ten days ago in Montana.

So much travel.

It was bound to happen.

Why?

Next life chapter.

A few October days of life on a college campus reminds me how seasons change without fail.

This new season of life has travel written all over it.

The only constant is change

Yesterday, 20 minutes before Ubering to the airport, Delta tells us weather has made it impossible to get to Glacier National Park. Air, car, and hotel all had to be rescheduled. Was it possible?

The only constant is change.

We know this.

But.

Do we plan for it?

And.

Do we strengthen our personal systems and processes to allow for rapid, mostly pain-free, and creative solutions to unexpected challenges?

Son, you have the opportunity to learn, develop, and hone personal systems and processes you control – decades earlier than me.

The freedom from becoming lean is exhilarating

Bill Gates young and current
The left photo is what i’m looking for…and then some. Unusual angles and moments that are real, but not a typical photographer’s mindset.

After 27 years in our home, we are remodeling both upstairs bathrooms and our bedroom.

The purging, donating, and recycling that is inspired by emptying a room and a walk-in closet doesn’t happen often, if ever.

The freedom you feel by becoming lean is exhilarating, at least to me.

Such a metaphor for life, in attitude, health, spirit, work, and home.

Unencumbered, free, lean, wise, light, margin, wealthy, and joyful are words that instantly come to mind.

Too busy to take advantage of this?

Disney speaker jeff noel
Change your view and everything you see changes. Such a simple concept. So uncommonly practiced by most. Too busy.

Too busy to take advantage of this?

What?

.thinking .differently

An easy way to .think .differently is simply to change your vantage point.

Photo above from 22 hours ago on the second deck of the Magic Kingdom OmniBus. We see everything we always see, but if a new, fresh, and different way.
