Life is hard.

When our son reaches this conclusion, may he find solace in getting daily glimpses into how a life can be redesigned.

And secondly, it is no longer possible for me to begin a single day without the amplified gratitude that comes from two hours of daily self-reflection.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

29 days to new website url and new brand identity

Countdown…29 days to new website url and new brand identity.

Enlisting the help of three key people:

  1. Dawn, protect leader
  2. Clarissa, graphic designer
  3. Jeff (not me), web developer

Each one excels at a skill set i will never master; skills i could spend a lot of the getting decent at, but i don’t have a lot of time.

There’s no school for what you need to learn

There’s no school for what i need to learn. No book i can follow with step-by-step instructions.

i believe this is the main reason the journey is so long, grueling, and scary uncertain.

The possibly of being the captain of my own ship compels me to pursue what i am certain will also be a rewarding journey.

The best way to succeed

Glacier National Park
Know what inspires you and build it into your life.

The best way to succeed in this world is to act on the advice you give to others.
– Unknown

Responsibility is the price for freedom.

  • Don’t quit your day job
  • Being better, different, or both is the only way
  • It’s easier to be different than it is to be better
  • Find and exploit your unique selling proposition
  • Publish your first book
  • Become a category of one
  • Charge a premium for your art

This is tip of the iceberg advice.

World record telephone call yesterday

Fearless sign
University of Maryland airport advertisement a few days ago.

It started while i was biking (for an hour) home from the gym.

It morphed into a world record telephone call yesterday.

Five hours.

With whom?

A college roommate from 1978-79.

i was a sophomore and Larry was a Junior.

Obviously we talked about many things…and while i explained the gist of my book, this gem surfaced as i revealed how having a 10-year deadline changed everything. A definitive deadline…

Neutralizes excuses. Accelerates decisions.
