Balance is not a myth

mountain top fire tower
Trust yourself enough to ensure you live with personal vibrancy.

True or false?

Balance is a myth.

100% false.

Balance is not a myth.

Do not trust anyone who tells you balance is a myth.

Why?

Because their five life bars are set too low.

Low bars never reach extraordinary results.

Personal vibrancy can be architected from structure and processes you (and you alone) control.

Hitting the ground running

What is unseen is the single Mickey Mouse balloon on the back side of the cake. The extra inch because it was easy to do and had a wow-factor to those who noticed.
Go the extra inch is a phrase i operationalized (made into a cultural habit) at Disney Institute from 2011-2014.

One of the key Disney business insights is understanding what industry expectations are and then exceeding those expectations in a scalable fashion so as to develop a reputation that not only leads the category, but potentially becomes the category.

Most podcasts are done in the same Host studio week after week.

Going on location and being in person with your podcast host(ess) is not normal.

Not normal is a great place to start.

Prevention is the best cure

Work for a Company like Disney for 30 years and try to not be over-focused. Island time. Ever heard of it? It’s a cool place.

Prevention is the best cure.

Prevent what?

Burnout, and everything that burnout attracts.

So yeah, prevention.

Takes focus and discipline.

Be a beast at focusing on the basics.

Be relentlessly disciplined to keep your eye on the ball.

The ball, by the way, is the basics.

We are pleasure seeking machines

wellness cover article on Time Magazine
Yesterday checking out at Publix, the magazine rack sent a timely message. But we’re more interested in getting our stuff home before the ice cream melts. No?

We are pleasure seeking machines.

Food, TV, Internet, gambling, drugs and alcohol, sex, work.

Knowing this and embracing it is a huge advantage.

But awareness is only the beginning.

Nothing happens until we create a new reality from our knowledge.

i frequently wonder where i might be today if an elder would have coached me about the choices i will face and the common (pervasive) temptations i’ll need to slay.

What if our Facebook updates focused on our opportunities?

American Flag
Yesterday a new American flag replaced a well-worn American Flag.

What if our Facebook updates focused on our opportunities?

If our spotlights and lasers were focused on ourselves, we probably wouldn’t have time to worry about what other people need to change.

Why?

Our time, theoretically, would be consumed with self-improvement.

There wouldn’t be time in our day to worry about other’s (namely politicians on both sides, and in every Country, State, and local government) behavior because we’re (now) so busy transforming ourselves.

Daily writing helps me see this in myself and it’s the primary reason why i continuously write about mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

What we dislike in others is usually a negative blind spot.

What we appreciate in others is usually a positive blind spot.

i work diligently to be more accepting and forgiving of behaviors that tempt me unfavorably.

Also investing in better energy and more consistent and committed acceptance in my “gifts”.
