It’s A Common Question

Profoundly Simple

How do you write five daily blogs? A common question from people I meet.

Hmmmm.

It’s sort of like running.

I don’t know why I do it, all I know is that i enjoy it and cannot help myself.

Drive. Hope. Faith. Purpose. Mission. Balance.

If you can’t find a role model, become one.

Do You Even Have A Choice?

As Basic As It Will Ever Get
As Basic As It Will Ever Get

The most basic of life’s questions, “Do you have a choice?”

We all have dreams, as grand as ending hunger, or getting a GED.

Or as simple as paying off our mortgage, retiring and watching our grandchildren grow up.

To make these grand or simple dreams come true, we must fight the good fight.

Every day.

And every day we are faced with the choice.

Keep going, or quit.

Never get bored with the basics, even in midlife.

What Makes You Feel Young?

Fertility Isn't An Entitlement
Fertility Isn't An Entitlement

Midlife crisis resulted, in part, because adults are living longer and therefore have to work harder on the upkeep of their most valuable asset.

Their life.

The mind must stay sharp. The body must stay active. The spirit must be nurtured. The job needs to be stable. The inbox remains unrelenting.

All these things are a fact of life and because midlife crisis is a relatively new issue (only since 1965), society hasn’t adequately addressed how to have a well balanced approach to aging.

Without balanced personal wellness, as people often call it, the aging process accelerates at a faster rate, which begs today’s question.

What makes you feel young?

What Makes You Feel Old?

51 Does Not Feel Old
51 Does Not Feel Old

Mid Life – like birth, childhood, adolescence, leaving home, getting married, having kids, empty nest, retirement, death – midlife fits in there as one of life’s major milestone categories.

For the sake of argument, of course, not everyone gets married or has kids, but it is the most common way to continue our species.

In life’s stages, when and where did you start to feel old?

For me, it was four major things:

  1. Getting AARP welcome letter in 2009 (age 50)
  2. A dangerous cholesterol report in 1999 (40)
  3. Identifying our legitimate disability in 1996 (37)
  4. Buying the first pair of reading glasses 1995

Can We Change?

Never Ate Asparagus As A Child

Are we predestined, and without a choice, to be the person we grow up to be, or do we have the power to transform to something different?

If you grew up not liking vegetables, can you become a healthy vegetable eater?

If you were the shyest kid in your class, could you become a world-class professional keynote speaker?
