Best time to worry mentally

Father and son
Not quite halfway through 8th grade. Retired the same Fall he became an 8th grader.

The best time to worry is when you don’t need to.

Think positive, read positive, write positive, watch positive, speak positive, have positive friends. Seems obvious. But.

But what is even more obvious, ridiculously more obvious, is doing the opposite. Watch how this reads, sounds, feels:

Think negative, read negative, write negative, watch negative, speak negative, have negative friends.

Worry in advance. Take climate change. We needed to worry about it before we needed to worry about it. That’s the only way to prevent it.

When you don’t prevent a negative, closed mindset, you eventually (by the magic of slow and steady compound interest) find yourself in the proverbial emergency room.

The time to worry is when you don’t need to worry.

Podcasting works fine from my desk. i don’t need to record from anywhere else.

This is the perfect time to see if recording from unusual and interesting places is feasible.

Also, riding a bicycle to Walt Disney World (versus driving) is something most 60-year olds would never consider, but wish they could.

Netflix. Like anything that we don’t make a priority, our material things can suffocate our life if we don’t manage it daily.

The time to worry is when you don’t have to.

Take physical health.

Do the basics now, and for the rest of your life.

Or, don’t.

And decades later be forced to change.

Same for everything else in life.

Nurture your attitude or wake up decades from now, fearful, bitter, angry, stressed – to the point of a potentially devastating wake-up call.

Worried about the future?

Calvin and Hobbs
Chapin sent me this last night. He showed it to me as we sat together in the Family room. i requested it, not knowing how i’d use it until after i wrote this post.

Worried about the future?

Prove it.

My theory is most adults could eliminate much of their worry if they cleaned up their own bank of lifetime habits first, before expecting someone else to change.

Yes, there are exceptions, but the odds of you being the exception are low.

Could ask dozens of simple questions, but for now, try these on…

When was the last time you exercised?

If we could see what you actually eat and drink in any given month, would you feel good or not so good?

When was the last time you began your day on your knees? And the time before that? Was it this morning and yesterday?

Is there breathing room in your cabinets, shelves, drawers, medicine cabinets, and closets?
