Three insights into midlife yesterday while visiting Walt Disney World Resort:

  1.  The reason we hate standing in line is because our midlife clock is ticking
  2.  We love the special treatment when things in our life are expedited
  3.  Technology and hard work increase our future opportunities

Anyone who has been on our planet over 50 years has seen a great deal of change. Of course, technology accelerates change, creates new options, and it also can level the playing field.

A level playing field creates an even greater need for new technology and even more hard work.

And all the while, our midlife clock is ticking.

Pausing for a midlife moment of silence

Jet plane cruising above clouds at sunset
Cruising day-to-day on auto-pilot?

Pausing for a midlife moment of silence. I’m writing this post 102 days before September 11. You’re reading it now on 9/11.

There’s something extraordinarily calming, stimulating, liberating, and educational about not going with traditional herd-mentality mass market hype saturation which surrounds big-time anniversary dates.

Not a fan of that. Too limiting.

Why do we only celebrate our birthday once a year? Everyday sounds much more alive.

Pausing this morning, Friday May 31, and wondering where America is with their memory of where they were when the world stopped turning.

Mid Life Campaign March

Time marches on. No stopping it. No denying it. Midlife arrives unannounced, even though we know it’s coming.

That bears repeating – we didn’t know it was coming?

Same with a lot of life’s challenges and opportunities.

And yet, we seem surprised at their arrival.

Wake the heck up, Boomers (myself included).

Oh wait, that wake up call metaphor is already taken.

Missed opportunities will continue for how long?

The downside and upside to midlife consistency

Lab in car surrounded by children
May the law of attraction work brilliantly for you today

The downside to midlife consistency is that mediocrity slowly suffocates our desire and passion to thrive.

Deep down, we know this is true.

The upside is that constantly tending to our mind, body, spirit, work, and home keeps our life in very good shape.

Deep down, we also know this to be true.

Wishing everyone great choices today.

Which way should I go, Alice asked

Cinderella Castle with Christmas lights
How and where will we spend our next 10 years?

Which way should I go, Alice In Wonderland asked the Rabbit.

The Rabbit asked back, “Where are you going?”

Alice, “I don’t know”.

Rabbit, “Then it doesn’t matter”.

Much of my life I didn’t know, and this led to an astonishing number of wasted years. Fun, but selfishly wasted.

How long is reasonable to finally figure it out?
