Now and then at Walt Disney World

Disney's Contemporary Resort
Where i stood to take this photo used to be a parking lot, and the Convention Center (right) used to be a parking lot too.

The Walt Disney World full-marathon is today. Something like 100k runners and fans. So many dreams for so many people. Most people who run their first marathon never keep running. But some do. Today we hope to add a few more lifetime wellness advocates to the list.

On a side note, January (mid-1980’s) used to be a “ghost town” at Walt Disney World. As a front line Cast Member at Disney’s Contemporary Resort back then, i can see what a wonderful job Marketing has done over the years to give our Guests many reasons to visit every week of every year.

Attitude helps us reach our goals and maintain our goals (for a lifetime). Without cultivating the indomitable will to think positively at all times, What we are cultivating? And are we moving towards quitting or away from it?

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Let’s dissect this May 2010 photograph

Let’s dissect this May 2010 photograph.

The original vision for writing a book happened in 1979, as a college Junior.

Started the process for gathering the content to write a book during Fall 2009. Yes, that’s really 30 years later.

The storyboard pictured above completed by Spring 2010.

The book was written Summer 2013.

Only three people knew the book had been completed:

me • our son (13) • the publisher

The first copy went to Cheryl on Thanksgiving morning 2013. She was clueless that it had been finished and was astonished to learn it was actually available on Amazon.

About an hour or two later, i announced to the world (Family/Friends/Colleagues) that the book (and Kindle version) was now available on Amazon.

Speaking of genesis (below), photo from yesterday at the Comic Book store.

Today becomes the 2,400th consecutive day of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts…12,000 posts:

Mind • Body • Spirit • Work • Home

Prior to April Fools Day 2009, i had not gone more than three consecutive days, and had never written five posts in a single day.

The genesis was a self-imposed 100-day writer’s bootcamp.

The pre-genesis was the 1979 promise (as a college Junior) i made to write a book of wisdom “for my kids”.

Do we need questions that make people’s minds explode?

Q. Why did you create Mid Life Celebration?

A. Because the world needs a wake up call.

This Is Genius, the video below, really is, genius.

Leadership 201: Ask questions that make people’s minds explode – because of the question’s power.

The video made my eyes water, as a 55 year old dad of a 14-year old, i find myself asking a powerful question that no one offers a convincing answer to.

What’s the purpose of school?

Hat tip to Seth Godin for sharing.

This Is Genius?

Yes.

Final answer.

Why did jeff noel found Mid Life Celebration six years ago?

Because action cures fear.

For more than six years jeff has been working towards the ability to raise (a ton of) money to donate to the good people looking for a cure for something currently incurable.

The President of the Foundation in New York has agreed to meet to hear the crazy idea.
