If you had two and one half years to live

At this point in life, i am asking myself if i should be immersed in doing what i love.

For context, i’m not oblivious to the daily adult responsibility that never goes away.

So i’m fully cognizant that i can’t abandon my adult roles.

What i’m talking about now is what would appear to be the art of living, loving, thinking, playing, contributing, and leaving.

Loving, thinking, playing, contributing, and leaving.

Loving, thinking, playing, contributing, and leaving an organized compass for my family, particularly our son (16).

It would seem to me that every aspect of what i do now ought to be filtered through the lens of love, joy, art, and contribution.

It would also seem there is zero room for fitting into a prescribed way or mold.

Should we dare to follow our own voice?

Even if it’s something others may frown upon, or worse, think is crazy, self-indulgent, or ridiculous?

Regret can only be overcome with action now

Brad Ramsey WPS Art Teacher

Brad Ramsey (pictured above), Art Teacher, Father of our 10th-grade Son’s classmate, and Assistant FB coach died unexpectedly over the weekend (Oct 8-9, 2016).

There are plenty of people praying for the Family, Faculty and students, so this isn’t to ask for that.

(optional, and not meant to imply anything, you decide what you need…)

Rather, pray for yourself.

Just pray for you.

Why?

Pause for a moment in your busy life and pray for you.

Pray for that.

For you.

(i do it all day, every day)

Life is not a dress rehearsal, live like you mean it

Life is not a dress rehearsal, live like you mean it.

Will i squander 2017?

Did i squander 2016?

You?

If you have my first book and haven’t read it, it’s economically priced.

It’s also an economic read – takes either side of an hour to finish.

If you’ve read it, have you thought about what you could gain from reading it again?

If you don’t have a copy, here’s great news?

The $4.99 Kindle edition or the $10.99 paperback are easily accessible.

If it doesn’t cause you to .rethink .reprioritize and .recommit i’ll refund your purchase price.

Few books have as much potential to minimize or eliminate regrets*.

*Regrets are non-refundable.

Cooper RIP

Sanibel sunset
None of knew this would be Cooper’s last sunset; however, we were all together for his last sunset at our favorite spot.

Unless you’re emotionally attached to a sad event, it’s challenging to care about it. This post is asking for your empathy or your prayer. This post is asking that you think the same way about your own misfortunes.

When something ‘bad’ happens, particularly when it blindsides us, we are left in shock, and deeply hurting.

The antidote, at least from my 57 year perspective, is to cling to gratefulness as if our very life depends on it.

Find the reasons to be grateful, even as you cry uncontrollably.

There is literally no exception to “it could be worse”. It can always be worse. And often, it can always be much worse.

We all have shocking moments in life. July 14, 2014 was one of them.

The upside is that we were all together at our favorite place. It could have played out so much differently. i’m grateful that it didn’t.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

The winningest women’s college basketball coach died recently

Pine Island Southern tip
We visited Pine Island’s northern and southern tip (above) yesterday. Pine Island is Florida’s largest at 18 miles x 2 miles. It ends here. Everything eventually comes to an end. It was an hour drive from Sanibel.

The winningest women’s college basketball coach died recently.

Article snippet:

She was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2011 at the age of 59. Summit decided to retire in 2012, taking the role of “head coach emeritus.”

Above average physical health means nothing.

This is so easy to forget.

So we do.

Each day i fight the battle that begins with, “Your crazy idea that you want to live like your 60th birthday is your end day is overreacting.”

Says who?

Overreacting is an easy finger to point.

Live like you mean it.

PS. In 1996 my Dad, 58 years old, was diagnosed with early onset, rapid-progression Alzheimer’s disease.  My 57th birthday was a couple weeks ago.
