The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.

Marcus Aurelis Antoninus

Happiness is a present attitude – not a future condition.

Hugh Prather

Thoughts yield behaviors. Behaviors yield outcomes. Therefore thoughts yield outcomes.

Effective immediately, and you can quote me on that

In an effort to eliminate all paperwork and unnecessary material things, a lifetime of quote collecting has made it necessary to dispose of all the paper.

What will happen, effective immediately and continue indefinitely, will be for all five daily posts to contain a few dozens hundred quotes that make the cut for posterity here on Mid life Celebration’s five blogs.

Because of this, the photos may or may not be themed to the quote. Long story, and thank you for simply trusting me.

Outside a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside a dog it’s too dark to read.

Improve the present moment

Young Steve Jobs in deep thought
Young Steve Jobs in deep thought. Contemplation and self-reflection are analogous to sharpening the saw before felling trees.

John Wesley said…

(S)he who has governed the world before I was born shall take care of it likewise when I am dead. My part is to improve the present moment.

In a world void of abundant role models for life balance – personal vibrancy – in mind, body, spirit, work, and home…

…and with a clock that waits for no one, i have taken the risk to offer what most are too busy, or too afraid, to do…

…take control of all the controllable things in their life.

Your thoughts, your physical activity and choices, your peace and contentment, your work contributions, and your personal organization at home.

Improve your present moment.

The 2 notebooks from life

sitting poolside in Orlando
Sitting poolside late yesterday afternoon for an executive coaching call.

The purging is progressing nicely. Shelves are 80% done. Yesterday i attacked the first of three 4-drawer file cabinets. The biggest “file folder” is the backup paper copies of the two lifetime quotes, sayings, and articles collection.

There’s a page per calendar day, plus some extras – about 400 pages.

Many quotes from the pre-internet easy-access decades.

What will follow in the days to come is the sharing of noteworthy quotes.

The internet makes every quote accessible. The ones shared on these blogs are the ones that crossed my path pre-internet.

Mistake, error, is the discipline through which we advance.

William Ellery Channing

To lose patience is to lose the battle.

Mahatma Gandhi

Be not impatient with thine brother, with thine neighbor, and – most of all – with thine self.

Edgar Cayce

The time to worry is when

Bicycle and American flag
Just before riding to Magic Kingdom yesterday to test a Podcast recording strategy.

The time to worry is when you don’t need to worry.

Podcasting works fine from my desk. i don’t need to record from anywhere else.

This is the perfect time to see if recording from unusual and interesting places is feasible.

Also, riding a bicycle to Walt Disney World (versus driving) is something most 60-year olds would never consider, but wish they could.
