Parents, Grandparents, Relatives

Part of life is the daily challenge of wanting to not miss a thing, but the reality is, we miss a lot. Today, I’ll be returning from a California trip and will be home well past our son’s International Day Parade. Cheryl will capture the singing and dancing on video. Meanwhile, imagine the vision – elementary school children, led by wonderfully smart, nurturing and creative teachers, singing and dancing to their featured dance, Shakia’s Waka Waka, from the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Africa (217mil views can’t be wrong). As parents, grandparents, and relatives of children passing through milestone stages, we hate to miss these exciting events. And then, all we need to do is remember our troops and others who sacrifice, for months, and sometimes years at a time, missing way more than we could ever bare.

Just Another Day

Celebrate Fall
Celebrate Fall

Today is just another day on the calendar – September 22, 2010. It is also the first day of Fall. So what? Exactly the point. We go through our lives, and day by day, we find distractions that hide life’s simple pleasures.

We have come to know the true meaning of life when we learn to enjoy the passing of time. Noticing this seasonal change is more challenging in Central Florida. Leaves won’t start to change for 2-3 more months.

So I’ve been teaching our son (10) that we celebrate Fall’s arrival the first day the temperature starts with a six. We haven’t seen 69 degrees since April. There is definitely a difference.

It will be here soon. Will anyone notice?

1 Adult, 4 Boys, 1 Girl & 1 Puppy

Do you find it intriguing that as we get older we spend less and less time, maybe even no time, on some of the most basic, fundamental essentials?

Like exercise.

Like art.

Like experimentation.

Last night, returning from a three-day trip, we had Cooper in our front yard. Four children in the yard across the street came running over.

Walking would have only cost them 10-15 seconds more.

Today’s post at Lane 8 should only take 10-15 seconds to read.

Will You Rejoice Today?

Looking Forward To Monday!!
Looking Forward To Monday!!

Mondays have such a bad rap.

Why is that?

I can’t wait to get to work on Mondays.

Can you picture Nelson Mandela in prison for 27 years, wishing for a day when he COULD go to work?

Yeah, many of you hate your jobs.

Dwell on that and how do you think your day will go?

Find a different angle. Work hard at it if you have to.

Of course it won’t be easy, but at least you’re not in prision.

Right?
