Happy New Year 2018 – your best year ever?

Ok.

So.

2018.

On a mission?

Awesome.

Never let your memories be bigger than your dreams.

Go.

3 basic tools for growth and positive change

Nursing home info board
Upper left, November 5th (yesterday). Be intentional about preparing for your death. Ask and answer life’s important questions with a determined sense of urgency. Some questions take decades to answer. Fear is a poor excuse to postpone your efforts (and obligation).

Three basic tools for growth and positive change:

  1. Paradox
  2. Questions
  3. Common Sense

With yourself and others, argue like you’re right and listen like you’re wrong.

And be convinced about where you stand.

No one else can do this for you.

Please remember, your clock is always ticking.

No amount of rationalization makes it ok to leave this as a burden for someone else, especially when you don’t discuss it with them.

Of course you don’t know when you’ll die

Last night.

Funeral in two days.

And a second funeral is imminent.

When is yours?

Of course (with some exceptions), no one knows.

Begs these questions though.

Will you be prepared?

Will you dwell in regret?

Will you be at peace?

Will you feel joy for what lies ahead?

The health of our mind (attitude) has consequences

The health of our attitude has consequences.

It sounds obvious, but it’s our job to manage our health.

Neglect one area, the other four suffer.

Enhance one area, the other four benefit.

I’ve noticed my writing the past two months or so

Glacier Lilly and Mountain Goat
Glacier’s Hidden Lake Trail last a year ago (2015).

i’ve noticed the way my writing makes me .think .differently the past two months or so to be less captivating than i’m used to.

Yes, the way it challenges me to .think .differently does captivate me most of the time – three months after it’s written – because i have no idea what’s coming. i like that.

So what’s happened has been a conscious experiment to exclude photos.

While it lessens the time commitment – the primary goal – to write five daily blogs, it leaves me feeling less attached to the messages and insights.

The past 60 days by the way have been more work intense as i gear up to write Disney books and build structure and processes around my new website.

Anyway, i’ve noticed and i’m guessing you have too.

The 2016 Rio Olympics began the Track and Field portion yesterday (August 12) and this is an important every-four-years tradition to watch as much of it as possible.

Perhaps as early as tomorrow i’ll start adding photos back.

Update (Aug 20): i went back and added photos to the previous 10 days or so. i didn’t want to wait until tomorrow.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.
