We all are faced with decisions.

Some are daily. Some weekly. Some monthly. Some annually.

Some only come once in a lifetime.

And these decisions never go away. There is no place to hide.

Good thing if you ask me. Who would want to hide? It’s so exciting, to have the privilege of living.

What are some of the once-in-a-lifetime decisions you’ve made that have made all the difference for you?

Turning 51 next week which is cause for reflection…

And yesterday I stumbled upon this You Tube video from last year’s Master’s Track & Field World Championships, which were held in Lahti, Finland.

Plenty of reasons to NOT celebrate midlife, right? Well, here, you’ll only find reasons TO celebrate. Plus, a funky and mesmerizing Suomi (Finland) groove.

The World’s Wake-Up Call

You Better Figure This One Out
You Better Figure This One Out

*phone ringing*

Someone answers, “Hello.”

“Yes, hello. Is this Earth?, the voice at the other end says.

“Um, yes, it is”, is the reply.

Once again from the other end, “Well, this is your wake-up call.”

A midlife crisis is often, but not always, initiated by a midlife wake-up call. It is our personal responsibility to react positively.

This Gulf of Mexico oil disaster means something to every human being on the planet. Have you figured it out yet?

Personal Responsibility = Antidote

Why Do We Lock Up The Basics?
Why Do We Lock Up The Basics?

Personal responsibility is the antidote to avoid or at the very least, minimize the damage of a midlife crisis.

When is that drilled into us?

Um……Never.

Unless you are exceptionally lucky.

Society expects personal responsibility to fall from the sky and land on us when we become adults. How’d that work out for you when you turned 18 or 21?

What if mental, physical, spiritual and career responsibility was taught to us from childhood, in our school systems, the way we teach reading and math?

Back To The Midlife Antidote

What Will You See When You Look Back?
What Will You See When You Look Back?

Every day it’s the same.  Isn’t it?  It goes like this:

  • No Passion
  • No Drive
  • No Worthy Goals
  • No Desire
  • No Patience
  • No Resolve

So there you have it, the antidote.

It’s yours for the taking.

But you don’t.

Have I not done enough to make you angry motivate you to begin to Rethink, Reprioritize, and Recommit?

What else do you want from me?

You’ve got to be willing to kick your own butt.

Are you listening?

You’ve got to!!
