The friend difference

My definition of friend and how many seems right has evolved over six decades.

What’s the difference between an important friend and a great friend?

An important friend may not be a great friend.

Think of your work friends, your colleagues. They may be important friends, but they may not be great friends.

Insight: Your great friends are definitely important friends.

Take breaks when needed

flip charts in a home office
Reminded a client about habits being the holy grail, professionally and personally.

Plant, fertilize, nurture, harvest, and share nothing but positivity, hope, and possibility.

Take the same thing you do with physical exertion and apply it to mental exertion. Physically, when we’re tired, we’ll stop and rest to catch our breath, get our heart rate down, and or recover for the next set, etc.

You can do the same thing when negative or sub-optimal thinking is all you can think about.

Oasis of quiet, mentally

Bishops Cap doesn’t look like Bishops Cap from here. In this photo i am on my hands and knees at the edge of a 2,000’ sheer cliff.

Be ready to go before it’s time to go.

American adults tend to wait until the last minute.

This habit manifests itself in everything.

Tell me it isn’t so.

Stacy and Steve have taken me to the top of Reynolds, Pollock, and today Bishops Cap, (via Pollock Mountain’s summit). All three are 9,200’+-.

We gain 2,800′ elevation in the first two miles, from Lunch Creek (6,400′) to Pollock’s summit at 9,200′.

This is a time-consuming section. No trail. Ton of loose rock. Not particularly favorable for scrambling.

Vibrancy has few peers.

Turning theory and common sense into actualized, habitual behavior places you in a psychological wilderness.

You will hike alone, unless you find a life partner to walk with you.

Regularly stretching your growth mindset boundaries strengthens your mental resilience.

Going into this morning’s second (day-13 post op) follow up eye exam, i already know Dr. Kumar will tell me one of the obvious things i’m acutely aware of.

“There is a decent amount of blood still in your eye.”

What i don’t know is what other insight he will share.

And then there’s the chance weather could close the office today.
