They ain’t the same

Disney never gets old for our household.

A positive attitude helps us slay can’t vs won’t.

Can’t and won’t are not the same things.

There was a time in life when we thought they were the same.

But then we discovered they are simply two choices at opposites ends of a spectrum.

Let’s take a positive attitude.

Who’s the most positive person you know?

It’s a trick question.

The question asks “who you know”, not “in the world”.

Your answer should be yourself, you.

You are the most positive person you know.

If you agree with this, congrats.

If you disagree, why?

And can’t you or won’t you make the changes to get the answer you deserve?

Growth mindset

Walking to gym yesterday. So easy to overlook on the brick wall. A tiny cocoon. Growth mindset is easy to overlook too.
Because i was delayed in returning home, texted a quick photo pictured here to let our son know where i was and why.

Can you explain the growth mindset to anyone?

Do you know how to apply it to your daily life?

Wonderful hour-long conversation with family member yesterday while walking back from the gym, which extended to a tranquil spot on our homeowner’s dock.

Pause and reflect…

That which is most important is hidden because of its simplicity and familiarity.

As my son and i discussed a situation the family member is having now, we can clearly see the best way for two anxious people to move forward – discuss things adult to adult, with an open mind, filled with curiosity, patience, and optimism.

In the phone call i had with the family member there is literally nothing but dread, anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. Apparently with both parties.

My son and i marvel at the paradox and quietly wonder as this is typed if there are personal blind spots that others can easily see.

Also can’t help but wonder if anyone would be kind enough to point them out and help me see them.

Create versus consume

Create versus consume?

Life changed when writing became more important than reading.

Make no mistake, i continue to read like my life depends on it.

But writing has controlling interest (51% versus 49%).

Creating versus consuming conditions your brain to be a participant not a spectator.

Weak overwhelmingly prevails

If that bookshelf could talk.

Truth or dare?

Truth, please.

Ask any seasoned Disney business consultant and speaker, “What’s the most universal thing you witness across all industries?”

An organization’s spirit to change is strong, yet the organization’s will to change is weak.

Told you that to tell you this: same thing happens to individuals, people like you and me. We desperately would love to develop better habits, but we struggle with the time, money, and effort required.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

Crisis or celebration?

Last night.
Busy doing nothing.

You are in charge of your choices.

Dispute this if you must.

If you do, who then decides for you if it isn’t you who is in charge of your choices?

So yes, we are in charge of the thought-choices, and action-choices, we make.

You may feel you have no choice but to live and work where you live and work, yet you will never convince me that you aren’t in charge of the choices you make about your thoughts.

The thoughts you pick pick you.

Crisis or celebration?

Where you are now and where you want to be may be different.

That’s okay.

Life is a journey and if privileged, you get to age and if you get to age, that means you have time to hone your beliefs, crystallize your values, and have your behaviors align with your values and beliefs.
