A comfortable amount of time is dangerous

mail delivery
Yesterday, December 23, 2018…mail delivery truck drove up into our yard. Country livin’. She was possibly too busy to keep the truck on the road and walk across the yard?

A comfortable amount of time is dangerous.

It gets in the way of taking action.

Why?

Because it can wait until tomorrow.

It’s always something

Broken garage door opened springs
The gap in the long dark coil spring means it’s broken. Broken means the garage door won’t open. Our garage door is our “front door”.

It’s always something. The unexpected. The little thing that causes disruption in our routine and puts unexpected pressure on our day to day plans.

Our daily plans generally don’t allow too much wiggle room.

This makes a tight situation tighter.

This reminds me why i spend everyday, all day, staying positive – never allowing adversity to crush me.

St Mary Lake
After a 7am-ish breakfast, the day began with the one-mile drive to St Mary Lake overlook.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. Rather try and fail than not try. i dared a 15-year old to jump in ice-cold water at Virginia Falls with the caveat that i’d do it too. He didn’t take the dare, but i’m glad i dared him. Maybe next year.

.

Note to self for posterity: 08.01 Monday…St Mary Lake before breakfast, 10am Little Chief boat tour to Baring Falls, hike to St Mary Falls, then hike to Virginia Falls, boat back at 3pm, saw bear, relax at room and lobby for wifi, dinner Two Dog Flats, Logan Pass for three hours, dessert at Two Dog Flats…PS dared Chapin to go in cold water up to neck. Maybe next year.

Serenity?

Geese swimming in a stream
Yesterday morning. Peaceful. But only ten seconds prior…

Yellow Lab in stream with Geese
We arrived just as the Lab arrived.

Yellow Lab in stream with Geese
You knew it was only a matter of time.

Yellow Lab in stream with Geese
Chaos.

Serenity?

The goal in life is to act on the things we can change and to let go of what we can’t.

That simple, daily exercise is enough to cause great stress lasting a lifetime because so much of our decision making could go either way – and what if we decide wrongly?

Now add to that the stress from a world in turmoil from an invisible enemy, terror.

We see what we want to see.

The fine print?

It’s our personal responsibility to overcome this and not only that, but to thrive in spite of it all.

Last night’s Republican National Convention is sure to cause stress for many people today. For others it will offer hope. The laws of nature include opposites like light and darkness, good and evil, hot and cold, flood and draught. It is up to me to act on these scenarios.

No words after yesterday’s Orlando Pulse tragedy

Twenty-four hours ago, i woke up, just like i did a few minutes ago at 5am.

Like everyday.

And like every morning, i checked in on Twitter and this Tweet was the first one i saw…i only read the top part that says, “multiple injuries”…didn’t catch that the shooter was dead…

Pulse Orlando tragedy
4am

Then before leaving for Church this one…not sure what mass casualty means…

Pulse Orlando tragedy
6am

After Mass, this one…

Pulse Orlando tragedy

Then we turned on the tv at home and learn 20 people died…OMG…

Pulse Orlando tragedy
8am

And then, to make this all worse than our worst nightmare ever…

Pulse Orlando tragedy
11am

Then, at the YuGiOh tournament in Kissimmee, this one…

Pulse Orlando Tragedy
About 2pm

May we all pause, think, cry, mourn, think some more, pray…and hope for some Heavenly miracle to reign down on humanity.
