Win the morning, win the day

Disney Speaker
Transformation.

Disney Speaker
Transformation. Same definition, different angle.

If you get a personal victory in the morning, you win the day.

Morning people succeed because they get one in the win column early. They take care of themselves first – so they can take care of others.

You know how it works with a commercial airline oxygen mask, right?

Exact same concept here.

In love with your morning routine?

inspiring quote
Easy to gloss over. Dangerous too.

What’s your routine each morning after you awaken?

How many times does your clock sound before your feet hit the floor?

(let’s agree not everyone sets a clock to go off, and not everyone has feet…i’m fully aware there are exceptions to literally everything – except death – so the use of generalizations has a place in our world)

What are your dominating thoughts the first 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes?

Gratitude, hope, purpose?

Resentment, dread, confusion?

Writing helps me process where i’ve been, where i’m at, and where i’m going.

What do you do to process those three things?

Every morning we awaken, our routine begins again.

In love with your routine?

Own the morning?

early morning Cross Country practice
Yesterday, 5:50 am…Cross Country practice. We are intentionally 10 minutes early for 6 am practice.

Own the morning?

Or does the morning own you?

During an honest evaluation, when it was obvious the morning owned me,  i changed.

It was a slow change.

And steady.

And looking back, it was a transformational change.

PS. A new job at Disney was the catalyst. Becoming a Disney Institute Speaker meant i needed to be up early every day whether i wanted to or not. i also no longer had to work at night.

Dear Morning

Disney's Bay Lake sunrise
Yesterday’s walk at Disney’s Contemporary Resort marina. Discovery Island on right horizon.

Dear Morning,

You are my favorite part of the day. I’d be lost without you. Thank you for the sunrise you bring every morning. i love watching darkness turn to light, and dawn turn to sunrise.

Never gets old.

PS. Sometimes i lie in bed just waiting for the alarm clock to go off.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

It’s a saying for a reason

East Glacier from ridge
From this high ridge, looking west, you can see St Mary Lake and Two Dog Flats.

East Glacier from ridge
Zooming in and still looking west from high ridge. Rising Sun is located in the very center.

The early bird gets the worm. You can get a lot done early before most people wake up. While others are crawling out of bed, you can be on the road to adventure. This applies to life, not just a conference.

.

PS. 08.04 Thursday Leave @ 730am for Two Medicine…no dining available so we drove to East Glacier and the Glacier Park Lodge but they stopped breakfast at 10am and no lunch until 1130am, so we took Hwy 2 to Apgar and ate at Eddie’s, shopped. Hiked Hidden Lake trail. Dinner at Logan Pass of chips & salsa and cheese & crackers. Bear hunting at Two Dog Flats and saw about 30 elk at 815pm. Desserts at Rising Sun.
