Same as yesterday

Mountains and a lake
Same photo angle as yesterday. Yesterday was portrait mode. This photo is landscape mode.

You may have noticed i’m taking a break from most posts being in the “quote” category.

Why?

Not sure.

In the same way the “quote category” had an almost 2-year run, perhaps it’s time to take a break. Maybe that’s why?

We shall see.

i get energy from doing things for the first time.

Kids thrive on this too.

In layperson’s terms it’s called, learning

Rocky Mountain High

Mountains and a lake
One of my favorite vacation photos. Wasn’t even trying to take an amazing photo. We were just sitting on our deck. Photo: The Rocky Mountains about 20-30 miles south of the Canadian border.

When i hear John Denver sing “Rocky Mountain High”, i think of Colorado.

But when not listening to John Denver, i think of the Continental Divide running through Glacier, splitting the east side and the west side. By the way, Glacier National Park is about 1,000,000 acres.

Leadership is BS

Read the green text bubble. While on the first six-mile leg of an 11-mile walking day, sent a group text to a dozen college buddies. Then the green bubble below…

Suspected, because it’s a holiday, that there could be some bandwidth for others to chime in. Sharing some photos from the thread for posterity. Real life in real time. The 13 of us have known each other since 1977-78. We generally have had annual get-togethers since then. Here are some photos in today’s thread…
Two people on a boat
Rick and Jac are an hour-is away in New Smyrna Beach.
Two grandparents with a grandchild at the beach
Hop and Tammy (living in PA) at the Jersey Shore with one of their grandchildren.
A couple celebrating 42 years of marriage posing
Carl and Heidi celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary.
10 people posing for family photo outside
Paul and Ree, and their family in New Jersey.
Six adults at home pool party
Friends hosted a July 4th pool party.

Heat index felt like 110 degrees.

Only takes one splash to create a splash party.

Since returning from Australia four days ago, we are slowly normalizing our home routine.

Worth noting we went from three weeks of Australia Winter (temps ranged from 50-70) to Florida Summer with heat index of 110 all week.

Didn’t walk as much as planned in Australia because of the morning’s ‘cold weather’. So being back home, i’m trying to ‘make up for lost mileage’.

This reminds me to remind myself…

Never let society’s embarrassingly low health standards be yours. Set polarizing, high health standards.

This is true leadership.

If you’re not leading yourself first, you’re a puppet.

You’re welcome.

More is worse

A monthly event calendar
The Flathead Valley, home to Glacier International Airport, has a lot of options for things to do.

Is having more choices worse than having fewer choices?

Depends.

Brainstorming is designed to give you the opportunity to think about as many potential solutions as possible. Why? because you can only pick from the ideas you generate.

Paradoxically, to scale a lifetime of personal decision making, too many choices makes deciding take longer. Too many choices also creates chronic decision fatigue.

Fifty types of mustard. Which do you pick while standing in the grocery store isle (or your Amazon webpage)?

Two types of mustard, which do you pick?

Mental illiteracy?

Apple Watch fitness app
Was out for a bit this morning and walked 10 miles. Three weeks in Australia did not yield rigorous movement. i moved decently in Australia, but not rigorously. Happy to do so today.

Is knowing that reading great books can dramatically help us, but not reading them the same as not being able to read?

Does knowing that doing decently rigorous movement can help us dramatically, but not moving rigorously the same as not being able to move?
