We age but we do not need to feel old

After 59 years, this never gets old.

A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both.

What’s your Super Bowl?

Disney Speaker
Walt’s wisdom transforms the work we do every day.

What’s your Super Bowl?

Nike has their new campaign with Colin Kaepernick.

At Disney, we have “I’m going to Disneyland”.

So yeah, right now, i’m just doing it – going to Disneyland.

Are happiness and joyful the same thing?

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
Happiness is probably the wrong choice of word. Joy is a better word.

Are happiness and joyful the same thing?

i think they are literally indistinguishable.

However, happiness gets so much criticism.

There’s less resistance and more margin using joy instead of happy.

Both emanate from gratitude.

Be intentional about counting your blessings.

Every day.

All day.

It is there you will find both happiness and joy.

Reunited after a 30-year absence

luck
Cousin shared a quote i hadn’t heard, so i dictated it and texted it to myself at 6:59am yesterday.

Cousins reunion
About 30 minutes later, we parked our bikes to take this photo.

We hadn’t seen each other in 30 years and we couldn’t explain why.

Heck, Randy is one of only three cousins i have.

His older brother and younger sister are the other two.

Randy drove from Pennsylvania to the University of Idaho to pick me up and drive me home, via Seattle, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

True story.

We were 22 years old.

It took a couple days.

The gift of another ordinary day – i’ll drink to that

Kentucky bourbon
Kentucky bourbon in the hotel room. Very few people have the willpower to drink just the right amount – which ranges from none to half an ounce. Imagine an elite athlete or world-class performer drinking just enough to become impaired before they do their thing. They’d never do it.

Kentucky bourbon
Doesn’t take much to produce a buzz. Like a kid in a candy shop, right? Somehow, candy shops make overindulging in sugar seem like a great idea. Same with this hotel room arrangement.

The gift of another ordinary day – i’ll drink to that.
