Subtract 10 degrees

Lake McDonald Lodge front desk iconic message board.
Woke up to rain and cold. Allergic to hiking in the rain. Allergic to cold too. Take West Glacier, 3,100′, temps and subtract another 10 degrees for Logan Pass, 6,600′, temps.

Playing catch up places the focus on a future state and not on the present state. Catch-up work is for a day that no longer exists.

Pausing from Glacier quotes

mountain sunrise
Intentional sunrise arrival. As we reach September 19, sunrise is early enough to pick the end parking space. Covid has made Logan Pass exceptionally busy this year.

Pausing the normal “quotes” today.

Why?

Feels right.

Today’s photos are a reminder that on occasional days our plans are completely changed at a moment’s notice.

With Covid-19, the same can be said for an occasional year.

Didn’t intend to not work for the entire year, yet here we are.

Forced change often pushes us to new and better things we would never initiate on our own.

Intentional thoughts

Fill your morning with good and decent thoughts and you fill your day with the same.

Where your thinking defaults to is where your life defaults to.

Limited time offer

Every Guest entering Glacier National Park passes this sign.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

It won’t be popular

Hiking trail sign in mountains
Later start than normal for two reasons: 1. Parking availability is not frenzied. 2. Warmer start time.

Originally, back in 2008, used daily blogging as book writing practice. Thought it would make me famous because the writing eventually became prolific. Famous never happened. Here’s the insight – what is popular is rarely transformational. While daily self-reflection is not popular in a busy world, 12 years later it remains worth my effort.
