Australia Day 4, mind

Couple at beach
Yesterday’s morning walk to the South Pacific Ocean. Cheryl’s first visit. Mine was previous night.
This morning’s “sunrise” at 5:15 AM. Sitting on the balcony in the morning quiet, we could hear the constant low roar of the South Pacific waves crashing on the beach 1.5 miles due East.

Waking up is a miraculous gift. For one day it won’t happen.

dad

The above quote is not a morbid declaration. It is a glorious reminder that the aspects of life’s most important things are invisible due to their simplicity and familiarity.

Nothing invisible from our Australian apartment balcony. Ever.

Australia Day 3, mind

River from balcony
Good morning (5:03 AM) from Australia.
River from balcony
Still 5:03 AM…10 minutes away from sunrise.
apple compass
Pointing the compass straight out from our balcony is due East. The longest day of Australia’s year was exactly a month ago.Summer solstice the sun is due East. The sunrise this morning should be slightly to the right or left.
sun rise
Tah-dah! (5:14 AM)

Hot and humid even at sunrise. Exactly like Florida’s Summers.
7-second video: Pre-sunrise, 5:04 AM.

There are exceptions to nearly every rule.

dad

Our first Pacific Ocean sunrise was stealthily disguised.

Disguised as an ordinary sunrise.

But.

But until yesterday, we’ve only seen Pacific Ocean sunsets, never sunrises.

In the sun’s quick-to-disappear disguise, i smiled at the unique (and kinda glorious) juxtaposition.

From Sunshine State to Sunshine State. From Florida to Queensland.

Can you believe we’re in Australia!

dad

After an epic travel path, we arrived in Sydney 26 hours after leaving our house.

We still had six hours more to get from Sydney to our apartment.

Adventure is what i make it. Same for you.

Adventure is what you make it.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

We are as prepared as we know how to be, considering we’ve never been on a 24-hour flight pattern.

Three flights.

One of them, the one we’re on now, is 14-hours in the air.

Our checklist includes all the things we have easy access to at home, but don’t have easy access to in Australia.

We did research and have our top priority to get an Australia cellular plan.

There’s more, but that’s enough for now.

Here’s what i know, mentally

Apple Watch screen note
Once we land at LAX we have (scheduled) 72 minutes to board the next plane to Australia. This second leg is 15 hours airtime.

i know my thoughts are the only thing i can control.

dad

What i know mentally is from what i’ve read, what i’ve lived, and what i’ve observed.

i’ve drawn my conclusions, based on my actions, experiences, and observations.

The mental conclusions are then applied to life moving forward.

Launch, learn, revise.

Repeat.

Note: This post will repeat itself in all today’s posts: mind, body, spirit, work, home. The energy is themed around a mantra or prayer type recital.

Second note: Just because i know i can control my thoughts doesn’t mean i will. Controlling your thoughts requires commitment. A lifetime’s worth.
