As expected, we are back after our recent ‘cold and windy’ first 2024 hike to Piegan Pass. A little later in the morning. A lot more sun in the background.

Sunny. Still cold, by our Floridian standards.

So much sun. So few people.

This second 2024 Glacier visit is a welcome, exciting, and unorthodox blogging experiment.

First two thoughts about what i bring to unorthodox/untraditional:

  1. Well versed in blogging.
  2. Well versed in experimenting.

So let me unpack what’s happening right now as i type this.

Before leaving Orlando the last day of August, i painstakingly prepared all the laborious (and uneventful) WordPress backend administrative functions. Blog post titles, categories, tags, scheduling, daisy-chain linking the daily posts, etc.

That said, i made an unpublished note in August for this date’s posts. It’s on the next line…

Theoretically this writing date is October 19, 2024. The publish date is May 28, 2025.

Here’s what i’m thinking about while preparing today’s posts:

  1. Today ain’t October 19. It’s not even October. But this will still publish May 28, 2025.
  2. After a month back on this (2024) second ‘summer’ trip, i’m still uncertain what is happening in terms of rhythm and habit.
  3. i love the confusion, the questions, the possibilities.
  4. i also love being comfortable with everything this ‘experiment’ is revealing to me.

All that said, it’s time to head over to the next blog.

We’ve always wanted to try Two-Med Grill. Today we finally did.

Two Medicine is a geographic region within Glacier National Park.

The Two Medicine Grill is in the small (understatement) town of East Glacier.

We spent three weeks in East Glacier this Season.

Exploratory.

Will reflect on the effort and the reward.

10-second video: Please pardon the orange camera reflection. Tried to find an angle but couldn’t so i just rolled with it. The insight was the only thing i wanted to capture. It’s below…

i wonder if the mountains are lonely or relieved.

Context: Now that all the tourists are gone, this is the final night of Hotel operations until next May. Parking lots will be deserted. Trails, especially deep in, will be barren from human occupation and appreciation.

8:22 AM arrival (and 46-degrees) and easily found a parking space at the trailhead.

A 9:00 AM start is achievable because parking is available after sunrise.

Mentally, what heights are possible?
