Allergic to cold, mind

Our view each morning.

Same morning, 30 minutes later.

Life is good here, looking out our highway (and mountain) facing hotel room.

The other-view option is the airport-facing side.

We’ve been on both sides.

We prefer the highway side.

And from our highway-side hotel room window we can see through the ‘canyon’ into Glacier National Park.

Wait, you’re still in Glacier?, mind

Today’s post thread should be fun. It isn’t the first time i’ve posted photos with the same message.
21-second video: Answering Jody’s question about when do we fly home.

Habits and rituals define our personal culture.

The Mountain Ash tree’s berries ripening timeline is a ritual.

Still in Glacier, mind

A couple miles from our cabin, just north of Apgar Village. Stunning.
38-second video: Sunset. Looking East.

We are still in Glacier.

The ongoing blogging experiment has accelerated my daily writing.

Didn’t see this coming.

Rolling with it, like i always do.

First full day back home, mind

fossils
These are visible almost everywhere above the tree line (6,000’+-) if you know what to look for.
hurricane radar
For several days now, have been watching Hurricane Helene with trepidation.

Stromatolites used to be a rare sighting for me.

Now that i confidently know what to look for, i see them (almost) everywhere.

Oct 19, Fly Home from Glacier 2024, mind

As expected, we are back after our recent ‘cold and windy’ first 2024 hike to Piegan Pass. A little later in the morning. A lot more sun in the background.

Sunny. Still cold, by our Floridian standards.

So much sun. So few people.

This second 2024 Glacier visit is a welcome, exciting, and unorthodox blogging experiment.

First two thoughts about what i bring to unorthodox/untraditional:

  1. Well versed in blogging.
  2. Well versed in experimenting.

So let me unpack what’s happening right now as i type this.

Before leaving Orlando the last day of August, i painstakingly prepared all the laborious (and uneventful) WordPress backend administrative functions. Blog post titles, categories, tags, scheduling, daisy-chain linking the daily posts, etc.

That said, i made an unpublished note in August for this date’s posts. It’s on the next line…

Theoretically this writing date is October 19, 2024. The publish date is May 28, 2025.

Here’s what i’m thinking about while preparing today’s posts:

  1. Today ain’t October 19. It’s not even October. But this will still publish May 28, 2025.
  2. After a month back on this (2024) second ‘summer’ trip, i’m still uncertain what is happening in terms of rhythm and habit.
  3. i love the confusion, the questions, the possibilities.
  4. i also love being comfortable with everything this ‘experiment’ is revealing to me.

All that said, it’s time to head over to the next blog.
