Every day is day one

Disney Keynote Speaker
Walt believed cleanliness and friendliness trumped everything.

Do you see it?

Walt Disney was not perfect.

He struggled with many things, like the rest of us.

Yet his ability to see the most important things clearly, and see a better tomorrow, made him the Customer Service legend he is today.

Ever notice how things at Disney Theme Parks look so fresh, new, like day one? It’s a philosophy that comes directly from Walt. Walt said…

Those sharp pencil guys tell you, ‘Walt, if we cut down on maintenance, we’d save a lot of money.’ But I don’t believe in that; it must be kept clean and fresh.  – Walt Disney

To Walt, the goal is clear, concise, and compelling…

To compellingly connect emotionally you must communicate his message of happiness through a pristine setting.

Day one refers to the vision, drive, commitment, passion, energy, and hope (the very first day you launch your company) that your product or service will change the lives of many people – possibly enough people to influence the world.

Action cures indecision

Disney Leadership speaker
Walt Disney and Fantasia Mickey, a few days ago abroad the Disney Dream.

It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.  – Leonardo Da Vinci

Action cures indecision.

Action can also lead to failure.

But we need failure to show us the way to success.

The long way is the short cut.

There’s an insane amount of lift with momentum

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker

There’s an insane amount of lift with momentum.

Insane may be the wrong word here, but i’m using it anyway.

Why?

Because of the way it feels.

Insane.

Crazy.

And in my choice, the context is wicked good crazy.

Helpful.

Beneficial.

Game-changing.

That kind of insane.

The kind that serious momentum creates.

You are always on parade

Disney keynote Speaker
The movie that was Walt’s big break also happened to be the world’s first animated feature.

You are always on parade.  – General George S. Patton, Jr.

“Leadership has been defined as the art of influencing and directing people to accomplish the mission. Management is the manner in which resources are used to achieve objectives.

Leadership is of the spirit, compounded of personality and vision—its practice is an art. Management is of the mind, more a matter of accurate calculation, statistics, methods, timetables, and routine—its practice is a science. Managers are necessary; leaders are essential.”  – General Charles A. Gabriel, USAF Chief of Staff

Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories.  – Cathy Allen

Enjoy the memories of the past, but don’t live there.

Adventure is out there.

So is paradise.

Keep moving forward.

PS. Today’s posts are in a weird space. We return to Orlando from a four-day Disney Cruise (in real time), and, as this posts live on September 23 i’ll be waking up in Glacier National Park for the first time on trip five.
