Day 2 WGcab, mind

Final hiking day for first Summer 2024 visit. There will be a return soon.
Car dashboard
Still chilly (46) at 9:00 AM. Departing later than normal because Glacier’s daily trailhead parking challenge doesn’t exist where we’re going. Jimmy’s song is accurate.

Scenic Point here we come.

My first hike this Summer was Scenic Point, solo.

My last hike this Summer was Scenic Point, with Cheryl.

Totally unplanned.

And yet it happened.

Note: And “this Summer” means the first leg of our Summer 2024 visits. We return soon for a second leg. This is what we planned last year until the emergency retina surgery kept us from returning.

Early morning. Almost Moonset.

Counting my blessings is tempting to overlook.

Why?

There are so many.

It’s an overwhelming number.

Plus, the daily habit can become boring and mundane.

Not to mention life’s never-ending, unexpected curve balls.

Writing daily helps me remember why i do what i do.

Day 7 Walt Disney World, mind

Heading to Cut Bank, the town not the Glacier hiking region, for the first time ever.

It’s a long, straight shot to Cut Bank. This is us pulling over to look back at Glacier.

It’s easy to know when to give my body a rest.

It’s not easy to know when to give my mind a rest.

Day 6 Walt Disney World, mind

Where we are staying facilitates a late hotel departure. In other places inside Glacier, all parking spaces are gone before sunrise.

A 20-minute drive to our destination is remarkable and we love it. Not only did we get a parking space, we got an excellent parking space.

Nothing like a 10-mile, 1,600′ elevation-gain hike to make you feel vibrantly alive.

And then pile on the views, the wildlife, the solitude, the companionship.

The mind has no where to go but ‘grow’.

Another day. Another sunrise. Portrait perspective.

Happy present moment.

Funny thing about a growth mindset.

Turns out, for me at least, consistently practicing creative approaches to daily routine things is a double-edged sword.

One side you feel like nothing is happening. You know, try something, nothing changes.

The other side you feel like something new is happening but you don’t yet know what is changing.
