Nature is an alpha dog

Mountains
If you are a day’s walk from your car, and your car is 50 miles from the nearest town, and the town is in the middle of nowhere…you’re probably in the wild. Good luck.

Nature is an alpha dog. Humans are its nemesis.

dad

Earth is patiently waiting for a return to a world without civilization.

It’s not a prediction.

It’s not an insider tip.

It’s not a morbid wish.

It’s simply the power of the Universe.

One day humans may go extinct, like the dinosaurs.

No one signed a contract that humans will live on Earth forever.

Your worst day turnaround

Mountains
Photo: Steve or Stacy Wahlberg. Yes, it’s that steep and that high. And the upper left “valley’ is near 7k’. Ps. That’s me in the dark shirt.

You’ve mastered growth mindset when you can turn your worst day into your best day.

dad

Everyone is going through a hell no one knows about.

This generally lasts a lifetime.

We all go in and out of “silent” hells.

It’s the great human equalizer.

No one is immune.

Insight: It’s not what happens to us that matters, it’s how we react to what happens to us that matters.

It ain’t easy.

It can bring you to your knees.

i am grateful for knees.

Yesterday was a great day, mentally

mountains
Constant gratitude is my habit of choice to enable thinking only good thoughts.

Control your thoughts and you control your peace.

dad

Yesterday was a great day.

Slept in due to ‘Spring Forward’ time-change event. And, went to bed early the night before…nine hours of sleep. Can’t say that very often.

Got to ask Cheryl if she wanted to walk to breakfast two days in a row.

Wrote five differently-themed blog posts.

Finished our taxes.

Finished taxes earlier than i can ever recall.

Beautiful call with my Mom and Sister, like we do every Sunday.

Walked our yard, like i always do, daily, when i am home, admiring the beauty, color, tropical foliage, serenity, and “it-factor” being less than a mile from WDW.

Oh, and i washed our 1990 car.

Growth begets growth

Apple Watch iOS update information
Yesterday, which in the Universe, means nothing. Pretty cool.

Willfully disrespecting your neighbors, thinking they won’t notice is so weird.

dad

i have AirPods noise cancelling feature and the volume turned up to my highest acceptable level.

Why?

To drown out our neighbors live band.

So grateful to not be next door neighbors.

This is growth for me.

Big time.

Turns out i learned this personal insight…

Insight: i no longer concern myself with the blatant human disrespect. Why? Because my original battle was for my community’s benefit. i’ve come to realize i’m cool with it all because i can adapt and overcome.

Now it’s up to the others. Putting that accountability on the others is freedom.

What that means…i stay silent. i said my piece in defense of my neighbors a few years ago. They had a chance to echo my sentiment. Never heard the echo. Good luck everyone. Sending good karma.

29,000 blog posts

15-second video: Yesterday. Friday. Quittin’ time for most people. Still thinking, past quittin’ time. Thinking is my highest priority work task. The “Severance question” has to do with an analogy from a recent client conversation.

The pinnacle work effort is when your effort never feels like work.

dad

The top photo is an illustration of what can happen when you love doing something that doesn’t feel like work.

i wrote five daily, differently-themed blog posts for five years while i worked and traveled the globe full-time at Disney Institute.

Every time i thought about starting a morning by skipping writing due to a demanding schedule, one thought always convinced me to not skip a day.

The thought?

This is what i’d be doing if i wasn’t doing this

Can’t imagine there ever being a morning where i don’t feel like reflecting on what i learned yesterday, what i get to do today, and what i hope for tomorrow.

i knew when i was at the pinnacle of my Disney and Disney Institute career…i’d need/want to start every morning expressing my gratitude for another day by thinking and writing about it.

Will i do it until the morning i don’t wake up for?

Seems like a safe bet.
