A life of reaction is a form of personal slavery

A life of reaction is a form of personal slavery.

Wake up calls have their original in the things we are not proactive with.

We can not stop bad things from happening, yet we can prune and nurture our attitude so that by midlife, we are self-aware in ways others have difficulty comprehending, yet ways everyone is entitled to and empowered to enjoy.

And we are equipped and inspired to be proactive with our mind, body, and spirit, as well as with our career and our dwelling space.

Thinking deeply about this, wouldn’t it be great if there was a short, concise, inspiring, direct, and generous book to use as a guide?

Guest blogger Lorie Sheffer: Creating the past

Still water generally has a calming effect on humans. So does letting go of pain. (photo: Lorie Sheffer)

“Do you hate him for abusing you all those years?”

I knew a woman who carried it with her, holding tightly to her hatred, for 90 years. She held it close in her heart until the day she died. I wondered if the same were true for everyone whose childhood memories of a leather belt extended beyond an accessory that held up their pants.

“No. If I were to carry around hatred for him then I would still have to live with being abused every day. I’d be abused by my hatred. I learned to let go and live the life I want for myself. That is how I made it stop. I learned to become the father I always wished I’d had. None of us can rewrite the past; what we can do is to make sure the life we create will some day be a past that our children and grandchildren look back on with love and happiness.”

Like it or not, good news and bad news follows us constantly. We are so stinking busy most days (years, even decades) that we get blinded to the reality that everybody is in the same boat.

So reminded of that today (11.12.13 – Nov 12, 2013) as the year-end holidays, and work challenges that go along with this time of year, that much of the world is in overdrive trying to survive and celebrate simultaneously.

This fact provides solace to one who has given herself permission to step up and be a positive catalyst the herd so desperately needs.

The herd is the majority, going through the motions. Until the final breath.

Have you ever felt called and how far did you take it?

Thanks to the critics of the world, we are given the most powerful definition of the compelling difference between what it means to simply survive versus what it makes to abundantly thrive.

In either case, both choices occur on the same planet, with the same species.

My in illuminating the secret is enlarging.
