Great news and greater news

Man squatting on a house roof

Great news and greater news…

Great news is people can change.

Greater news is you don’t need to change them.

Why?

Because you can’t.

You get to bask in what you can control, which is to surrender to what you can’t.

Breaking the chains from what you can’t control is freedom.

Bliss.

Note: There may be fluctuating degrees of remorse or guilt after seeing the light.

Process it in your own way and in your own time.

But never revert to thinking you can change someone or something that’s out of your control.

Altitude fever

Mountains
Continental Divide. Father and Son June GTTSR bike trip.

Theoretically this could be my/our fifth day in Glacier this Summer.

But theory and reality often fail to meet.

The mental way

Baby Yoda, from The Mandalorian. As the Mandalorian say, “This is the way.”

What is “the way”?

Perhaps an assumption, from humanity’s time-tested wisdom, that summarizes all the possible ways into a single, assumed best way.

Also assume deep insight into the dark side and the light side.

Severed Cable TV cable
While helping the concrete crew find the Internet cable you severe it. Like what just happened, then what?

And then what?

What?

You’ve heard, or said, “and then what?” for reasons that seem obvious.

When you peak, and remain peaked, at always having a positive attitude…then what?

When you struggle for decades, unsuccessfully, to always have a positive attitude…then what?

If only, mentally

Disney classroom display
If you love and admire what Disney produces, why would you not try to replicate excellence in your own life?

Whatever “if only” narrative you have about your attitude, ensure it includes (fill in the blank).

For me it includes “if only i can always think positively, no matter what.”
