Kyle approached me as i was leaving the Lodge and thanked me for my loyalty. He said he saw i have 26 previous visits in their system and he suspected it was more. Some years ago, the company had a name change. It sounded like whatever history was with the previous name was gone.
He’s the first Pursuit employee to call out my loyalty to them.
While i do not expect to be called out, it feels “professional” to be recognized for high achievement. Recognition is a demonstration of care. Care never gets old.
In most organizations, recognition is insidiously lacking.

Turns out the drive to Logan Pass is shorter than i calculated.
Decided to do Oberlin yesterday.
In hindsight, it was a brilliant choice.

This vehicle was parked close to mine when i went out to get a vest because the weather got windier and cooler yesterday.
In all my years, i’ve never heard it framed up this way.
The journey is the destination.

Today is a ‘rest day’.
Over-focusing on rest.
Why, after only two hiking days?
The normal season opener hike is 4 miles round-trip and only 1600’ elevation gain and loss.
To avoid 3+ hours of round-trip drive time to get to Oberlin, i stayed local and had a 30-minute round-trip drive time. However, opening day hike was 8 miles and 2500’ elevation gain and descent.
