When does four days equal 20 blog posts?

MLC – HQ became the fifth box…the one that surrounds the other four boxes. It was there all along, but i was blind to it…until one day…

As you read this, please understand i was insecure, afraid, and alone when i thought up and began that crazy idea on April 1, 2009.

When do four days equal 20 blog posts?

When you write five daily blog posts.

When i began brainstorming what Mid Life Celebration was going to be in the first few years, i had determined life had four big choices…

  1. Mind (MidLifeCelebration.com)
  2. Body (Lane8.org)
  3. Spirit (jeffnoel.org)
  4. Money (work) (JungleJeff.net)

So i purchased the four domain names above, my gut also told me i should have an “office”, like an administrative HQ for all the stuff that wouldn’t naturally fit into mind, body, spirit, money.

jeffnoel.com was owned by an Arizona State Farm agent.

Being decently organized, i purchased backorder rights through GoDaddy.com for jeffnoel.com in case the State Farm agent let it go for any reason.

Sure enough, and much sooner than i could have hoped, he didn’t renew and i received the right to buy it 73 days after his expiration date.

This was March 2009.

It was then that i added the fifth blog, HQ.

So yeah, i often forget that i originally had four big choices in life versus five.

Visiting the archives for the three posts from March 2009, i’m reminded that i had the fifth choice all along – i called it a digital, administrative store-front. A place that served the digital equivalent of an office on Main Street, USA.

It’s been three years since i wrote in this blog’s category labeled Life’s Big Choices (4 Total).

You must see it before anyone else will

will smith quote
Seven years ago, i posted this quote. Today, Facebook, you’ve got your work cut out for you.

You must see it before anyone else will.

Challenging because what we want to do probably feels impossible to us.

If it feels impossible, the journey rarely gets started.

Rarely?

Closer to never, actually.

So here’s some math, and history….

Nine years ago, the impossibility was for me to write for 100 consecutive days.

Made sense to write a lot – as practice – to prepare for writing my first book.

Now, six days from today, i begin year 10 of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts.

Impossible is nothing?

Depends.

On.

You.

There’s no way in heck you’ll make it 100 days

wdw today
Yesterday in Epcot’s parking lot. Love how social media technology is part of everyday life at Walt Disney World. Social Media was just a dream when i began blogging in 2008.

April Fools Day 2009 was 3,287 days ago.

No one cares.

i get it.

But it inspires the heck out of me.

And…

Back then, the notion of writing five daily blogs for 100 consecutive days was beyond impossible.

And yet…

And yet i believe if your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Because of that belief, i thought there was a remote possibility i could do 100 days (and 500 posts).

But to think i could go nine consecutive years (3,287 days) without missing a single day is absurd.

Absurd.

There are 52 weekends every year

Orlando based Disney Keynote Speaker
Each bead represents my opportunity to reflect on the past weekend to determine if i squandered it, maximized it, or landed somewhere in between.

Wanted to write you a shorter post but i didn’t have time.

Imagine someone saying that.

Sounds backward, yet it’s true.

Much of life has simple, insightful truth.

We just need to invest more time to discern the truth.

PS. The long way is the short cut.

i have to laugh

Disney Institute speakers
Found this on a Google Search for Disney Institute. The first 6 years of daily writing, i worked and traveled full-time for Disney Institute. How was that possible?

i have to laugh.

@

myself.

Who wakes up at 5:00AM (sometimes earlier, if traveling) every morning and spends the next two hours writing?

And who does this morning ritual for over 3,000 consecutive days?

i’ll tell you who.

A freak.

And who says a mid-life crisis should be celebrated?

Same freak.

(me, right now, giggling)
