A mentally special day on the calendar

Polebridge, in Northwest Glacier National Park.

A mentally special day on the calendar.

Yesterday was inspiring.

The morning hike to Avalanche Lake and the afternoon drive to Polebridge provided two firsts:

First time in 46 years at Glacier to visit the infamous Polebridge.

Son, you got to experience a lesson (being assertively friendly) on the trail that will transfer nicely to college freshman year in two months.

Note: Initiating a salutation is different than responding to one. An example of scaling the extra inch, all day, every day.

The final 120 days

Adventure of college
Photo library and this one caught my eye.

Dear Son, you begin College in 120 days.

There’s a new category on all five blogs (starting today April 17) to capture the reality of your final four months with us.

Obviously, no one can predict the future and you could very well spend a Summer or multiple Summers living at home.

There’s also the distinct chance you may not.

Adventure awaits.

Amazing days await.

PS. Every single day is yours to make amazing. You must define and hone what qualifies as amazing. Hint: That your eyes opened this morning, and you can see is a great place to start.

Of what special skills, strengths, achievements, or potential

Last night, October 5, before the High School football game…a screen capture from a security camera.

Regarding our Son, of what special skills, strengths, achievements, or potential are we especially proud?

Skills: Honesty, behaving admirably, personal responsibility, self-control, initiative, fun.

Strengths: Kindness, creativity, learning, simplicity, perseverance, story creation including complex storylines. A sense of humor. Instinct; similar to an animal’s, he can sense other’s energy as sincere or insincere.

Achievements: Overcoming shyness (including self-confidence challenges) and transitioning from a middle school with 11 students to a high school of 500.

Do the math

Family trip to Glacier
Summer 2018 (1, 2, 3).

Add up:

The number of days we hugged after school before driving home.

The number of mornings i kissed your forehead then knelt to pray at the foot of your bed while you slept.

The number of dinners we said our Family prayer, the second half of which contains the meaning of life (peace in your soul, joy in your spirit, and love in your heart).

The number of hours we spent together.

The honesty, the behaving admirably, the self-control, the personal responsibility, the initiative, and the fun you observed and were taught.

The number of times i reminded you i’d die for you in a heartbeat.

The number of conversations we had in which i taught you about the interconnectedness of mind, body, spirit, money and hq.
