High 5, day 5

Yesterday’s nine-second video surprise surprised even me.

Why?

Because in .thinking .differently, the focus is simple – no photos.

No photos could be assumed to mean no visuals.

But here’s the catch…

That was never clear.

It may have seemed clear, but ‘seemed like’ is not clear.

Never made a statement that said this experiment will contain no visuals of any kind.

Is one-million dollars enough

Pixar Soul toys on a mountain
i have no insurance policy for accidents in the wild. But all the other legal documents are completed. Final Will & Testament. Healthcare directive. Automatic transfer of property and bank accounts. i own nothing of value.

Recently had a conversation about Glacier and a friend asked, “What happens if you slip and fall while hiking? If you get seriously injured, Jeff, how would you cover your medical bills?”

This former Disney colleague lives in a subdivision with a $1,000,000 insurance liability policy in case someone gets injured or worse at their three community-shared spaces.

It’s a small subdivision, 100 lots.

They are not worried about slipping off a cliff, but he did raise a great point about unexpected, and expensive, vulnerabilities.

His Homeowner’s Association (HOA) is prudent to have multiple policies, each covering the HOA for various categories. One covers the Board of Directors, for example, against negligence, or acts of omission. Another policy for personal injury (or worse) or accidents at their community lakefront lot, small kiddie playground, and shared entrance. Alligators, venomous snakes, dark murky water. No one ever plans on drowning, that’s why it’s called an accident.

We had an unexpected, yet enlightening conversation about how far one-million dollars goes these days.

He was over-focused

Text thread screen shot
The post below is a copy/paste of the text riff i went on…

This 29-year old leader, parent, entrepreneur is smart. He downloaded all 100 If Disney Ran Your Life podcast episodes as each one was released weekly – two-years worth. Now episodes 96-100 are the only ones publicly available. But not for this over-focused young man.

Here’s the feedback riff…

To my ear you are leveling up.

The insight is THE most important.

Tactics may ebb and flow depending on a bunch of core milestones….

Age
Relationship status
Job experience
Leadership experience
Education (self-directed) (books, videos, podcasts, conversations)
Personal development
Goals
Vision (which may not be a thing for most of humanity)
Mistakes
Risk tolerance
Success
Spiritual beliefs
Attitude
Physical well-being
Current career
Home organization
Fun
Fear
Gratitude
Etc, etc

Climate crisis proposal

From 2006 release, finally watched it in 2021.

If everyone does a little bit, a lot gets done.

Whether in a small village, or a planet with 191 Countries.

It all comes down to a simple proposition.

Will we embrace a growth mindset or a closed mindset.

Meaning, will we accept responsibility, or will we cast blame?

Will we work together, or will we raise walls of division?

Ask, listen, repeat

sidewalk chalk art
Found chalk on the ground walking to the gym. Next thing you know…

What are you motivated by?

How do you stay motivated?

What do you do when your motivation is challenged?

What makes you come alive each day?

What’s your morning routine like – how does it serve you? How did you discover it?

What’s your evening routine like – how does it serve you? How did you discover it?

Did you have fun yesterday? How?

Did you .think .differently yesterday? How?
